![]() The only "new" information the listing tells us is that there will be some kind of seasonal nature to the shop, but even that isn't really "new" information, or wholly unexpected given that we already knew the game was intended to have some kind of seasonal focus.Īs it stands, all we know is what they've publicly said, though looking at previous titles, we can assume it will be monetized similar to their other successful main titles such as Diablo 3 and WoW. That said, using the current outrage over Immortal to try to make it seem like because the free-to-play is heavily monetized means their full price games will be would be hyperbolic. We can presume that, similar to Blizzard's other not free-to-play games, that said in-game shop will largely be comprised of cosmetics, (eventual) DLC, and some kind of seasonal specific offerings, but anything beyond that is pure speculation. They even publicly confirmed that it would feature an in-game shop at BlizzCon 2019. That said, the fact that Diablo IV will have MTX in it isn't exactly groundbreaking news - we've known since the initial announcement that it would. You know there is a proper channel for feedback if you ever want to pitch a story or idea that you think has been overlooked. ![]() Note how they haven’t reported on D4 hiring someone to manage microtransactions in the game: Wowhead has really gone down the crapper. I have a gut feeling that the Diablo 4 beta is actually still very far away, and that Blizzard just opened up this sign-up page to appease the Diablo fans who are angry at Diablo Immoral. ![]() This is gonna be on the back burner for a few months. Back in the days you can enjoy the full game with a fix price of $60, now I would expect to pay 200% or more of the game price to experience the full D4. I understand game series need continuous cash flow to update new season and expansion, but sadly DI has reveal how to generate endless income as long as they bound character progress with monetized item. I wonder how they'll push microtransactions into D4. Comment by rinotz on T22:36:13-05:00Īlso, the release date for D4 could be announced tomorrow at the Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase Comment by MrXtrm on T22:45:51-05:00 I just hope enough people speak out about this, though. Believe it or not, most of the MMOs I've played have been F2P and the most punished I got from doing that was having the daily rewards reset on me. That and I found out earlier from a Youtube video that not playing everyday lowers your chances of getting legendary gems. I'd wonder if this was too soon because I thought that Immortal was still in the beta stage. I'm glad to see that some people are excited. There will definitely be a shop to keep the servers funded, but that's nothing compared to trying to recoup developments costs AND server costs with in-game transactions like Immortal has to. You will already pay $60 for the game, unlike immortal which you pay nothing to start. but I have a very bad feeling that Diablo Immortals microtransaction hell will bleed into D4. I am okay with some cosmetics sold on the shop. I pray that they will not try to monetize it like they did with Immortal. ![]() Update: Blizzard's official press release has confirmed that Diablo 4 will also be releasing on current gen consoles including the PS4 and Xbox One. which we kind of already knew, but it doesn't hurt to reaffirm. Look for the green text to make sure you've been added!Īs an added bonus, there are also a few new screenshots featured on the main page and the site states that Diablo 4 will release on next generation consoles - Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Windows Central editor Jez Corden also recently published a preview for tomorrow's Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, which included a rumor that Diablo IV would be featured alongside other third-party developer presentations, so we may be in store for even bigger news tomorrow at 1pm Eastern. Still, we do know that company-wide internal testing has been ongoing since at least April of this year and we should be due for another quarterly update any time now. By contrast, Shadowlands beta sign ups started in February 2020, about 5 months before beta testing began, so there's not much consistency in timing. The most recent Diablo Immortal pre-registration began in April, well after the test period and about two months before the game released worldwide. Unfortunately, there's still no word on when exactly that testing may start, and this announcement doesn't give us much room to speculate. Pre-registration for Diablo IV beta testing is now available! To sign up, make sure to visit and log in using your normal Blizzard account information, then simply click the Pre-Register button and look for the green text to make sure you've entered.
